Everest Base Camp – Kalapatthar Trek – Trip Overview
Everest Base Camp Kalapatthar Trek goes through Namche and Tengboche, Dingboche and Lobuche then head toward Mt. Everest Base Camp. Exciting suspension bridges hanging over raging rivers and long uphill hiking lets you know you are approaching the world’s highest mountain. The entire trek leads through the heartland of the Sherpa people who are the original inhalant of the highland. Together Everest Base Camp Trek passes numerous picturesque typical Sherpa villages and many colourful gompas.
Everest Base Camp Kalapatthar Trek will take you up to the last stop Gorakshep, groups then head toward the small mountain of Kalapattar which sits across from Everest and has the most spectacular views of the mountain or Everest Base Camp explore trip. After this outstanding exploration journey, most groups then start the trek back to Lukla but if being at the actual base camp is what you want it will add an extra day to the trip. The trek from Lukla to Kala Pattar to Lukla takes a total of 14 days and reaches an elevation of 5545 meters.

DAY 01 |
Kathmandu |
Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu and transfer to a Hotel. | |
DAY 02 |
Full-Day Guided Tour in Kathmandu Valley |
Visit Nepal’s most exuberant historical and cultural spots and holy pilgrimage shrines – Hindu temple Pashupatinath, Bauddhanath stupa, Swayambhunath – the famous monkey temple of Nepal. | |
DAY 03 |
Fly to Lukla (2840m) and Trek to Phakding (2610m) |
Depart Kathmandu via air for Lukla (8800ft) and a short trek (2-3 hours) to Phakding at 8,661 feet. The flight to Lukla is similar to the Everest View flight for views and sceneries. | |
DAY 04 |
Trek to Namche Bazar (3440m) |
The trail climbs gradually following the river and enters the Everest National Park at Jorsale, then crosses the river and climbs steeply to Namche (11,100 feet). (4-6 hours). | |
DAY 05 |
Acclimatisation Day Halt at Namche Bazar |
Namche acclimatization day halt/ rest day or day hike possible. Namche is the capital of the Khumbu district and offers many ways to spend your day. | |
DAY 06 |
Trek to Tengboche (3860m) |
We Climb the ridge above Namche and descend to the Dudh Koshi River before climbing again to Tengboche Monastery (12664 feet). (4-6 hours). Devoche is slightly further (20 minutes) and is a charming village. | |
DAY 07 |
Trek to Dingboche (4410m) |
We walk slowly through the pleasant village of Pangboche and on to Dingboche. | |
DAY 08 |
Exploration/ Acclimatisation at Dingboche |
Rest day to be used as needed proper acclimatization rest or explore around. There are several great hikes from Dingboche for this layover day including Nangkartshang Peak or one of the base camps below Ama Dablam. | |
DAY 09 |
Trek to Lobuche (4910m) |
A very scenic day hike through high barren alpine walking through glacier moraine and an hour Thugla Pass climb up. | |
DAY 10 |
Trek to Gorakchhep (5153m) |
Our last camp is here before taking our long day hike to the summit of Kalapatthar (18,000 feet, 5545m). Or explore Everest Base Camp (5310m). | |
DAY 11 |
Trek Back to Lobuche (4910m) |
During a long day, we ascend and descend Kalapatthar, and spend the night in Lobuche. | |
DAY 12 |
Trek Back to Pangboche (4150m) |
All the way we follow an easy down way hike with feeling easy passing the Pheriche village. | |
DAY 13 |
Trek Back to Khumjung Village (3860m) |
After breakfast, we join for a day hike again. Descent to Imja Khola bridge and easy walk to Dibuche and climb up to Tengboche again and descent all the way to river bank and again ascent to the final stop. | |
DAY 14 |
Trek Back to Manjo Village (2940m) |
Today you will hike through the Syangboche world’s highest strip then drops to Namche for a lunch stop and continue descent again up to the final stop. | |
DAY 15 |
Trek Back to Lukla (2840m) |
All the way via the Dudhkoshi river valley trail we will hike down and uphill climb to until the end of the Everest Base Camp Kalapathar Trek. | |
DAY 16 |
Transfer to Lukla Airport |
Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel and rest. | |
DAY 17 |
End of the Trek |
Departure transfer to Kathmandu Intl airport to connect your onwards Journey. |
